Supersymmetry and Supergravity

Supersymmetry and Supergravity

The course will describe supersymmetry in its rigid and local form.
In the first part we will consider main principles and concepts of supersymmetry, its algebraic and group theoretical structure, and the notion of superspace as a geometric ground in which supersymmetry is realized as a coordinate transformation. The construction of theories describing matter (scalar and spinor) and gauge fields invariant under rigid supersymmetry will be described. Mechanisms of spontaneous breaking of supersymmetry and its non-linear realizations will be studied.

In the second part we will describe the local realization of supersymmetry, namely supergravity. We will give a general introduction to supergravity theories, detailing the formal and phenomenological differences with respect to globally supersymmetric models.
