PhD Program in Astronomy: PhD Courses

The PhD Program in Astronomy offers:

  • General courses (16 hours, with final exam).
  • Monographic courses (10 hours, with no final exam).
  • Special courses by visitor scientists (with no final exam).
  • Italian and international PhD schools on topics of Astronomy and Astrophysics. Registration fee, travel, and lodging are covered by the PhD Program after the approval of the Board of Professors.
  • Journal clubs (from September to June). During journal clubs the students will discuss either recent research papers or their own research projects.
  • Seminars organized by the Department of Physics and Astronomy and INAF-Astronomical Observatory of Padova.

Within the second year the PhD students should have attended:

  • Four general courses chosen among those organized by the PhD Program in Astronomy.
  • Three monographic courses chosen among those organized by the PhD Program in Astronomy.
  • All the special courses.
  • All the journal clubs.

Within the third year the PhD students should have attended:

  • Italian or international PhD schools in Astronomy and Astrophysics for total duration of four weeks.
