April 14th marks the celebration of "World Quantum Day," an opportunity to bring quantum physics and its applications closer to the general public. This year, coinciding with the Year of Quantum Technologies, the Quantum group of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Padua has organized a special day dedicated to high school students from Padua and its province, as well as to the general public, with the aim of discovering the world of quantum computing in an interactive and engaging way.
Morning – Introductory Lesson and Quantum Treasure Hunt
The morning, dedicated to 25-40 students, began with an introductory lesson on the physics of quantum technologies, explaining the fundamental concepts of quantum mechanics and their role in the development of quantum computers. Following this, participants divided into groups took part in a quantum treasure hunt. The objective: to face interactive challenges to understand how a quantum computer works.
Afternoon – Games, Experiments, and Interactive Activities
In the afternoon, open to the public, participants were able to take part in a series of board games, experiments, and interactive activities to deepen their understanding of how quantum computers work and discover how they can be used to solve complex problems.
The event aims to stimulate young people's curiosity and interest in the world of quantum computing, providing a dynamic and engaging educational experience.
